Plain English Terms and Conditions

This website is owned and operated by The Guitar Factory Ltd...this is our legal name but we trade as and are known as Jimmy Egypt's, Jimmy Egypt and Sons or Jimmy Egypt and Sons Musical Instruments. Like all UK based online shops we are governed by and your purchase(s) are covered by consumer laws to make sure that you, as a consumer, have all the info you need about the goods and services we provide. If you use our website, you agree to our terms and conditions.
We want you to feel confident when you buy from us online and to be happy with your purchase from us whether it was made from our website or in our store. If you have any issues with any aspect of our service or of your order, please let us know so we can assist you!
After you order from us, we'll send you an email with your order number and details of what you ordered. This email is just to let you know we got your order - it's not an acceptance of your order.
We'll accept your order and complete the contract when we send your order to you unless we tell you something else or you cancel your order. We explain this in more detail below under the heading Cancellations & Returns. If we don't accept your order, we'll give you a full refund.
We'll let you know if we accept your order or not. It's unusual and there's usually a good reason for not accepting your order but If we say no, we can't be held responible.
We might not accept your order if we can't get permission from the bank, we suspect fraud, there are mistakes with the goods' description, or the goods aren't available anymore.
Please know that some items might have been on display and might have had their packaging opened for testing or quality control. We check every instrument and even restring it before we send it to make sure it sounds the best it can and that you will be happy with it.
As part of our service, we may contact you by telephone about your order but this is not always necessary.
Delivery of Goods
If you order something that's in stock before 12 Noon Monday-Thursday, we'll try to send it to you the same day unless you request a Saturday delivery. If we can't send it to you that day because of mistakes with stock, quality control, or the order process, we'll contact you to let you know. We tend not to ship goods on a Friday as it's not a good thing for the instrument to sit in a cold warehouse over the weekend. We are not able to ship on Public Holidays or Bank Holidays. Sometimes, we might send your order in more than one part, but we won't charge you extra for that.
We'll send orders in the UK using Royal Mail, and they should arrive within two working days. If you pay for our Next Day Delivery service, we'll use UK Mail or DHL and your goods should arrive within one working day. But some remote areas (like we explain elsewhere on this page) might take 48-72 hours to arrive.
We might have to change the delivery time estimate during the order process, and we'll tell you about any changes in writing or verbally. Some orders might take longer than we estimate if they're too big, too heavy, or too expensive. If you really need your item delivered on a specific date or time you must contact us and let us know. We'll then do our utmost to make sure this happens.
Once we give your order to the courier, we're not responsible for any delays but we'll tell you if there are any delays. We won't be liable to anyone if we deliver your items outside the estimated delivery time.
Delivery to an Alternative Address
We can send orders to an address that's different from your billing address if we've verified that it's you making the order. But we might only send it to your billing address.
If you pay for your order using PayPal, we can only send it to a confirmed address. We won't send it to an unconfirmed PayPal address.
If you pay for your order using a finance option, we can only send it to the address you used in your credit agreement. We won't send it to a different address if you order by Klarna or Paypal (3 instalments).
Cost of Delivery (UK Only)
You'll see the delivery cost on your shopping basket page. It depends on how much you're spending and which delivery option you choose.
At the moment we generally ship orders over the value of £250 free of charge.
The correct shipping charges will be automatically calculated on your shopping basket. At the moment our standard shipping charges are as follows:
Small Parcel £2.50
Medium Parcel £5.00
Large Parcel £5.00
X Large Parcel £10.00
XX Large Parcel £10.00
As mentioned above we ship all orders over £250 for free. In addition to this other products under this value may come with free shipping. We decide which ones. Free shipping is only available in mainland UK. If you live on an island or in the Scottish Highlands, we might charge you extra. If a product qualifies for free shipping this is advised on the product and other pages.
Additional Charges for Delivery
We might charge you more for delivery if you buy a really heavy item or if we undercharged you for delivery by mistake.
If we have to bring your item(s) back to us because you refused delivery, we'll charge you £20 per delivery.
If you need the item delivered on a Saturday or on a specific day this might cost extra. Contact us and we'll help you with this.
Postal Zones/Remote Areas
We call Northern Ireland, the Scottish Highlands and Islands, the Isle of Man, and the Channel Islands "remote areas" for delivery purposes. If you live in one of these places, we might charge you extra for delivery. Here are the postcodes we use to define these areas:

Cancellations & Returns
First and foremost, we want you to be happy with your purchase from us whether it was made from our website or in our store. If you have any issues with any aspect of your order, please let us know so we can assist you!
Ownership and Responsibility
Once you get your item(s), you're responsible for it. We're not responsible if you don't look after it properly and it gets damaged.
If your item(s) is damaged in transit, let us know within 24 hours of getting it. We'll collect it and give you a new one or a refund if we don't have any left. We might ask for pictures of the damage to make sure it's real and to help us investigate the matter with the courier. We can't do anything if you tell us about it more than 24 hours after you got it.
At Jimmy Egypt & Sons we offer a 12-month warranty on all new products and a 30-day warranty on pre-owned goods. If you think your product is faulty and it's within the warranty period, give us a call at 0141 339 2941 or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org and let us know that you want to return an item bought from us. We'll help you resolve the issue or arrange for the product to be returned.
Keep in mind that sometimes problems with a product can be caused by a mistake on your end. For example, if you bought hardware, it may have been installed incorrectly or another part of your equipment may be the problem. We'll try to assist you over the phone and resolve the issue without making you return the product.
If you do need to return your product, we'll test it to confirm that there is a manufacturing fault. If the item is returned in "as new" condition with all the accessories and original packaging, we'll send a replacement unit to you at no extra cost if it's available. If the item is no longer available, we'll do our best to work with you and our supplier(s) to provide an alternative or issue a full refund.
If we receive a returned item and find that the fault is the result of misuse, such as the item being dropped or used improperly, we'll treat it as a non-warranty repair and we'll contact you to discuss this and resolve the issue.
If you want to cancel your order and return the goods, you have inform us within 14 days and take care of the items. You then have a further 14 days in which to return the item. You'll have to cover the cost of shipping unless the goods are damaged or faulty, in which case we'll pay for the return shipping. If you don't return the items, we'll assume that you've decided to keep them. If you return the items in a damaged or unsellable condition, we may reduce the amount of your refund. We'll credit your account for the cost of the goods when we receive them back, usually within 14 days. If you want to cancel your order during this period, email us at email@example.com with your full name, address, telephone contact number, and the words "ORDER CANCELLATION" and the transaction ID in the subject header. A phone call won't be sufficient without written approval from us.
When you contact us, we'll provide you with a returns form that you must send back with your goods. This form will include shipping instructions and an address for the return of your goods. Note that items returned to the wrong address or without an authorization reference may be delayed.
If you're near our store, you can return any product purchased through the website by visiting us directly at Jimmy Egypt & Sons Musical Instruments, 615 Great Western Road, Glasgow, G12 8HX.
You can't return special orders or customized products or items that are not typically stocked by us and were ordered at the customer's request. You also can't return any products that have come in contact with your ear or mouth, such as microphones, headphones, earphones, harmonicas or products where the hygienic seal has been broken or removed. We won't accept them back for hygiene reasons.
Description of Goods & Pricing
Our prices are displayed in Pounds Sterling and include VAT. If you're outside the EU, you're responsible for any customs charges and taxes.
We try to make sure that our prices and product descriptions are accurate, but errors can occur. We'll let you know if there's an error and offer you the correct price or a refund. The product images are for illustration only.
We're committed to providing the best service and value. If you find the same product at a lower price elsewhere, let us know, and we'll try to match it if possible.
We accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Paypal, and bank transfers in GBP. We also offer simple staged credit payments through Paypal and Klarna. Your payment information is handled securely and encrypted by Elavon, Paypal, Opayo and Klarna.
The article above and terms within apply to purchases made online via this website. They are specific to distance selling purchases only. These terms do not apply in full if you were to make a purchase in person in our physical store. We might change these terms at any time without telling you. Nothing sinister...just that things change and our website terms and this page may be updated from time to time that's all. But if you're worried about this contact us to clarify.
