  • Adaptive Radius Technology
The ART system within the top bar of the Performance 3 capos mechanically adapts to the true curvature over your strings and fretboard, exerting completely even pressure across all the strings - setting a new standard of in-tune, buzz-free use. It gives you maximum tuning stability with the minimum possible tension in EVERY position, on ANY guitar neck.
  • Unique Tension Control
By simply squeezing to attach and squeezing to release, the Performance 3 capo gives you complete and intuitive control over the pressure you place on your strings. Whether it's an acoustic or an electric, you can have confidence that you are in control and will keep your guitar in tune.
  • Internal Silicone Pads
With non-reactive, protective silicone pads at every touchpoint, you can be sure that the finish on your instrument is safe when using a Performance 3 capo.
  • Store on your guitar
Between songs, you can easily park a Performance 3 capo on the headstock or just behind the nut for quick and convenient access.
  • One-handed use
With a little practice, a Performance 3 can be moved with one hand between frets nearly as quickly as a spring capo, but without the need for frequent retuning.

Product Description

The Performance 3 is the culmination of years of designing, tweaking, and improving - but most importantly, listening to guitarists and their views on what a capo SHOULD do. Now, coupling G7th’s Unique Tension Control system with the ground-breaking ART string pad mechanism gives a near-perfect capo experience.

Performance 3 ART string pads are fully replaceable.

What is the Unique Tension Control system?

In 2004, G7th launched the first Performance capo - the first major upgrade in capo technology for 25 years - featuring G7th’s patented Unique Tension Control system.

The tension control was, and remains, the first of its kind: you simply squeeze the capo to attach it to your guitar neck. Removing is equally simple by squeezing the release lever. This allows extremely intuitive and infinite control over the pressure placed on your strings and heralded a new standard of tuning stability from a capo.

The mechanism is called a wrap-spring clutch; it allows the capo arms to rotate freely when closing the arms together, but if you try to rotate in the other direction, the spring tightens around the hubs so the capo cannot open. When you squeeze the release lever the spring coil is loosened, allowing movement in both directions so you can take the capo off the neck.

Now, paired with the Adaptive Radius Technology string pad on the Performance 3 capos, you get a near-perfect capo experience:

MAXIMUM tuning stability with the MINIMUM tension required.

What is ART?

ART stands for Adaptive Radius Technology, which is a patented mechanism created by G7th that sits underneath the string pad on both the Performance 3 and Heritage capos. When the capo is attached to the guitar, the ART automatically responds to the radius of your guitar neck and the gauge of your strings to perfectly distribute pressure over the strings, giving you MAXIMUM tuning stability with the MINIMUM tension required.

Simply put, ART is the biggest advance in capo technology since 2004 when G7th launched the original Performance capo with their Unique Tension Control system.

Why does ART matter?

The biggest complaint from guitarists about capos is the lack of tuning stability - put on the capo and it pulls your strings sharp. While the severity of the problem depends on many factors, including the pressure put down by the capo, string gauges, action height and fingerboard radius, the problem is not completely solved by being able to adjust the pressure on your capo. The fundamental problem still remains - the pressure is not being evenly distributed which causes some strings to be pulled out of tune, frustrating beginners to professional guitarists in their playing.

The Adaptive Radius Technology string pad distributes pressure over the strings perfectly by responding to the fingerboard radius of the guitar on which it is placed.

This means the tuning stability is unrivalled when using a capo with ART.
