For anyone who's a fan of music from the 70s/80s, it's highly likely you've heard one of these used on one of you favourite records. The Yamaha SG2000 was released in 1976 under the consultation of Carlos Santana, and can be heard on a number of his recordings.

The initial reason of the SG2000s introduction was to create a premium Japanese guitar that could rival the best American made instruments.
On top of that, Yamaha wanted to create a guitar whose construction increased the overall quality of sound and feel of an instrument.
The centre block design done just that by increasing sustain and resonance that carried throughout the whole guitar.
The pickups - also of Yamaha's own design - are known for their full, thick tone that can be split to give them true - single coil sound.

The Yamaha SG2000 guitar has a rich history of being favored by esteemed artists, and its legacy is intertwined with influential musicians like Bill Nelson, Stuart Adamson, and Flock of Seagulls. Introduced in 1976, the SG2000 quickly garnered recognition for its exceptional craftsmanship and versatility, making it a go-to choice for guitarists seeking a distinctive sound.

Bill Nelson, the gifted English guitarist, composer, and vocalist, is one of the pioneering artists associated with the Yamaha SG2000. His work with the band Be-Bop Deluxe and his solo projects showcased the guitar's ability to deliver expressive tones and nuanced textures. Nelson's creative approach and sonic exploration demonstrated the versatility of the SG2000 in genres ranging from rock to art-pop.

Stuart Adamson, best known as the frontman of the Scottish band Big Country, also prominently featured the Yamaha SG2000 in his music. Big Country's signature sound, characterized by Adamson's innovative use of guitar harmonics and bagpipe-like tones, was greatly enhanced by the SG2000's warm and resonant sound.

Flock of Seagulls, the iconic New Wave band, was another notable group that utilized the Yamaha SG2000. Flock of Seagulls' hit songs like "I Ran (So Far Away)" exemplified the SG2000's ability to blend seamlessly with synthesizers and contribute to the band's success.

The Yamaha SG2000 guitar has left an indelible mark on the music world with its ability to deliver distinctive and influential sounds, solidifying its place as a beloved instrument among musicians and fans alike. As a true testament to its enduring appeal, the Yamaha SG2000 continues to be cherished and celebrated by musicians seeking to create exceptional and timeless music.
