Provided Jimmy Egypt & Sons with a number of guitars, some of which required setup/string changes and I had them refret... an EC Stratocaster which had been played to death. Strat was returned to me and it plays like new, in fact it plays better than it ever has in the many years I have owned the instrument. Couldnt rate the work highly enough!read more

Excellent repair job back in April on a very fine acoustic I bought second-hand (elsewhere, mail order) which was... perfect... except for buzzes etc high up the neck caused by rising 'tongue' of fingerboard. Painstaking and highly-skilled repair work, and guitar restored to total health. Real craftsmanship and attention to detail, for which many thanks. Intended to wait a couple of weeks to be 100% sure repair had worked - and it had, and how - but then forgot. Anyway - a guitar repair man and guitar dealer you can totally trust. I've bought / part-exchanged other guitars here ; reliable and fair people, considerate, helpful and polite. 5 stars, therefore.read more

I'm selling a couple of PRS SEs and couldn't find the truss rod cover or back plate screws anywhere. Walked in, and... despite not stocking either brand, he managed to off the top of his head give me ALL the right screws for two guitars for a fiver inside five minutes. They all fit. I had a troublesome intonation problem with a Martin 000-28EC and it was repaired recently at Jimmy Egypt's. The work... that was done transformed the way the guitar feels, plays and sounds - it has never been better and I appreciate the craftsmanship and effort involved and also the care that was obviously taken with it while it was in for repair. Great deals with friendly and helpful service. Bought a Charvel DK24 including the Charvel branded hard case from here... today. We had an 80s Bc Rich Warlock body and neck that needed a lot of work done, it had nothing, the guys were very helpful... in finding suitable parts for a difficult guitar, pots, pick ups, bridge, the lot. I've had several guitars refretted at Jimmys, all to the exact same high standard. The frets are so level I can set my... action stupidly low if needed and the guitar always plays cleanly even with a 9.5 radius on a strat....(1/64 at the 22nd fret) One time Jimmy stepped in and completely refretted a Tele when someone else botched the fret work, saved the day and the guitar, which 3 years later still plays amazingly. Great consistent work with a strong eye for detail.read more

Most guitar stores I go into these days are so obsessed with making a sale and nothing else and it makes me feel like... I'm not wanted in the shop. I visited Jimmy Egypt's yesterday as I realised that I had never been in before, so I had no intention of buying anything, just wanted to look around and see what they had. The staff were welcoming and I never got the sense that I wasn't wanted in the shop at all (as I do with other guitar shops) and one guy in particular (I don't remember his name but he had longish hair and a red jacket I think) who talked about guitars with me was really friendly and let me try an 12 string acoustic for the first time. I didn't feel like I was being pressured to buy it though. Overall great experience and when it comes the time that I do want to make any guitar related purchases, I'm definitely coming back, even though it's more out the way for me.read more

Visited this gem of a shop today..started by having a go at a Vintage LP junior type guitar played through a vox valve,... then had a look at the tower of power wall that has some stunning looking instruments. So whatever comes first, wages or lottery determines wether it’s the Joe Walsh or Vintage. Looking forward to getting my Strat set up.read more
